Today, I'm dreaming of my holidays in England I made two years ago.
The cottages, the small pretty gardens, the ancient villages,
The shops I would have emptied (I swear I didn't just because I wasn't travelling with
my car- I hadn't the courage to fill my friend's car boot....)-
Sometimes, I watch the photos and I'm captured by an intense nostalgy.
England has always been like a second home to me,
even before I was able to go to London for the very first time, I felt a strong attraction for this country.
And it was a great forecast love.
Who knows why we can be so attracted by a place so different from our birthplace?
Gertrude Stein said: " America is my country, but Paris is my hometown".
That's exactly how I feel.
Italy is my country, I'm Italian and I could never live for so long outside Italy.
But England is a sort of "home of the heart", a place where my heart belongs to.
And as you well know already, one of my greatest dream is to have a small cozy cottage
like this very one.
Maybe even just for a long vacation.

Even though I have never been to England, I always feel like that is where my heart lives as well. In a little cottage in the country side just like this one....it's love.

Ti capisco cara, fin troppo bene. Ho sognato l'Inghilterra fin da piccola.. ricordo a 15-16 anni sognavo e cercavo di organizzare una vacanza a londra con le mie amiche, e che delusione quando loro nn mi appoggiavano... chi avrebbe pensato che il destino mi avrebbe portato a vivere qui? Ho volato qui la prima volta come regalo di laurea ed é stato amore totale. Ho trovato tutto quello che c'era nei miei sogni. Ho poi scoperto, come hai scritto tu, che il cuore puó appartenere a due diversi luoghi, a diverse situazioni.. ed é qui che la cosa diventa complicata, perché io non mi sento piú ne italiana al 100% ne tantomeno british.... una via di mezzo e cerco di prendere il bello di entrambi i paesi.. ma a volte é tanto difficile, come sai. La campagna inglese, il verde, le colline, i footpath, i cottage, le sale da the, gli animali selvatici, i villaggi che sembrano fermi nel tempo.. tutto questo é l'inghilterra che sognavo e che riesco a godere qui... poi c'é tutto il resto delle cose della vita aimé!

Ciao cara! Anch'io ho sempre portato l'Inghilterra nel mio cuore, ho imparato ad amarla anni fa e per me sarà sempre uno dei Paesi più belli al mondo. La prima volta che l'ho visitata ci ho lasciato un pezzo del mia anima..anelo un ritorno come dico io, ma come al solito devo fare i conti con il resto della famiglia, il dovere di mamma mi chiama!
Ma appena pvssibile tornerò, magari in un bel cottage come quello che ci mostri?!!

I completely understand you! I am a Brazilian living in US, but in my heart, my hometown is Italy. Every time I walk there, my heart beats faster, I feel an energy that I cant describe. I never have the same feeling anywhere else in the world!

You would love where i live...Vancouver island in British Columbia..Canada. There is a strong British influence here. Old tudor homes and lots of english gardens . We have a great climate for gardening. There is a great many Brits here and still coming here to retire. The city Victoria (British Columbias capital) is so charming very old english homes oh they are to die for!!
